Rabat – Morocco’s national carrier Royal Air Maroc has become the first African airline to receive “Cargo iQ” certification, highlighting the company’s observance of the Cargo iQ standards for quality management.

The renowned certification testifies to Royal Air Maroc’s remarkable progress in terms of air cargo, the Moroccan airline said in a statement.

Royal Air Maroc was also awarded two supplementary stars to recognise the carrier’s performance in the “Corporate Social Responsibility” and “Innovative Spirit” categories.

With this reward, Royal Air Maroc joins the list of major global air carriers, freight forwarders, ground-handling agents, trucking companies, and IT solution providers that seek to implement quality standards for the worldwide air cargo industry.

Valid for a period of 3 years following an audit by the SGS certification body, the renewable certification follows Royal Air Maroc‘s membership of the Cargo iQ community in 2019.

The audit aims to verify the compliance of members’ operations on the basis of a Master Operating Plan (MOP) that is essentially focused on the standard end-to-end process of transporting air cargo between stakeholders for accurate planning and proactive monitoring.

VP Cargo for Royal Air Maroc Salim Quouninich previously said in a statement that “[Cargo iQ] membership will allow us to utilize the milestones established by Cargo iQ, as well as access member-generated data to ensure our processes and reporting are at the highest possible industry standard.”

Founded in 1997, the Cargo iQ is an interest group within the International Air Transport Association (IATA); its goal is to create and implement quality standards for the freight and supply chain industry worldwide.

Cargo iQ members also developed a system of shipment planning and performance monitoring for air cargo based on common business processes and milestones.
