Rabat – The cast of the upcoming Bollywood film “Jana Gana Mana” will soon visit Morocco for a three-month shooting schedule starting from late September.
Named after the Indian national anthem which translates to “Thou Art the Ruler of the Minds of All People,” the action movie follows the story of an army officer played by Vijay Deverakonda. It is scheduled to hit Indian theaters in August 2023.
The shooting of Jana Gana Mana started in June in Mumbai and Rajasthan.
Talking to News18.com, the filmmaker Puri Jagannadh said that the movie, which he has been working on for 10 years, will include “never seen before war sequences and some high octane action scenes with a lot of VFX [visual effects] involved.”
“It is going to be the ultimate action entertainer,” Jagannadh said, adding that the movie’s budget is three times bigger than that of “Liger,” the latest hit by the filmmaker and the stars Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday.
Echoing Jagannadh’s comments on the movie’s budget, the film producer Charmme Kaur from Puri Connects said that “Liger’s budget was in two digits but it went on and became three digits.” Meanwhile, he added, “Jana Gana Mana is going to [be] much bigger in terms of budget and scale.”
Lauding the previous performance of the main male actor, the filmmaker said that “Vijay has done an excellent job in Liger but I guarantee that he is going to be phenomenal in Jana Gana Mana.”
For his part, Deverakonda expressed his excitement about the movie, noting that “it’s one of the most striking and challenging scripts” and it “will touch every Indian.”
The “Jana Gana Mana” cast and crew’s visit to Morocco in September to shoot scenes for the action movie adds to the North African country’s growing appeal to Bollywood filmmakers.
In 2018, Bollywood icons Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif shot scenes in Morocco for “Thugs of Hindostan.” Three years prior, Kaif visited Morocco for the “Jagga Jasoos” film.
