Rabat – Poldermocro’s is a new Dutch TV production that follows six outspoken youths on their journey to learn more about Morocco, their country of origin.
The six-episode show will debut on Tuesday, September 13 on NPO3, says BNNVARA, the show’s co-producer.
The new reality show is expected to investigate the double-edged sword that comes with a dual nationality. The main cast includes Aziz, Yasmine, Meryam, Yasmine, Tarik, and Ayoub.
Sahil Amar Aissa, the TV show presenter, guides the cast throughout their adventure in Morocco.
As a Dutch-Moroccan, Aissa says that dual nationality offers a “free identity crisis.”
“Finding yourself is incredibly difficult at such a young age. Let alone if everyone in the Netherlands has such a strong opinion about your culture and faith,” he argued. “That’s why it’s important to create safe and stimulating spaces to talk about these difficult topics.”
Navigating through a journey of self-discovery, the six cast members will engage in meetings and discussions with locals to learn more about Moroccan traditions and local views on different topics including taboo subjects.

These conversations are set to highlight the similarities and differences among a small group of individuals who are proud of their Moroccan background but do not necessarily hold traditional Moroccan perspectives.
“They come from all parts of the Netherlands and each has [his/her] own views on traditional Moroccan norms and values. In this way, the so-called Mocros hold up a mirror to the Dutch and show that ‘The Moroccan’ does not exist,” says BNNVARA.
