Rabat- Spotify, the leading music streaming platform, has unveiled Morocco’s most streamed artists, songs, and albums from 2022. Moroccan rappers and hip-hop artists rank high on the list.
According to a press release from Spotify, local rappers are the most streamed artists in Morocco, namely ElGrandeToto who hit the top of the list for the third time, followed by Tagne, and Draganov.
Magic by Kouz1 is the most streamed song in Morocco, followed by Salade Coco by ElGrandeToto. Ckay’s hit Love nwantiti, came in third place while Draganov’s Lbaroud and V’s Christmas Tree ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.
The most streamed albums in Morocco include Cameleon by ElGrandeToto which tops the list, followed by Draganov’s Colors. Arabi by Inkonnu ranked third, Jackpot by Stormy, and٤in (Act 1) by Don Bigg ranked fourth and fifth place respectively.
Egyptian artists topped the list of this year’s most streamed Arab artists with Wegz earning the most streamed title. ElGrandeToto, Marwan Moussa, Marwan Pablo, and Tagne are also featured among the most streamed Arab artists.
Toto is regarded by many as the biggest name in Morocco’s rap scene. He was the most-streamed artist in the MENA region on Spotify in 2021, with over 135 million streams from 178 countries.
In July, Toto was nominated for the headies awards 2022’s best north African artist of the year, organized by Nigeria’s hip hop world magazine.
