Rabat – The tea challenge video featuring Moroccan football stars Hakim Ziyech and Nayef Aguerd has gone viral on social media, with many users sharing the video and speculating as to whose tea tasted better.

French professional footballer Kurt Zouma shared the video in a story on his Instagram account, in which the Moroccan players can be seen preparing the tea while other footballers who are watching them are saying, “Moroccan mint tea, we’ll see which one is the best!”

While Aguerd showed off how to pour tea the Moroccan way, Ziyech added three sugar cubes and stirred the tea with a spoon.

Zouma’s wife Sandra Zouma also posted a video on her instagram story featuring the Moroccan tea with the caption, “Moroccan mint tea is so good,” thanking Ziyech and Aguerd

She also shared a picture showing Moroccan traditional sweets as well as Chebakia, one of the most popular pastries in the North African country during the month of Ramadan.

The duo’s tea challenge is trending on Twitter, with nearly 4,000 tweets for Ziyech at the time of writing.

Speaking about the significance of tea in Moroccan culture, a twitter user said, “In Morocco, [tea] is much more than a simple hot drink; mint tea is a whole way of life. This national beverage symbolizes the legendary Moroccan hospitality.”

Another Twitter user noted that Ziyech put more sugar in his tea, saying, “I just know Aguerd’s tea is better because Ziyech put too much sugar.”

Commenting on Ziyech’s tea, a Twitter user jokingly said, “No, because why is Ziyech stirring the tea with a spoon. Somebody tell the man it’s illegal.”

Moroccan mint tea should not be mixed with a teaspoon as the herbs might burn.

Ziyech and Aguerd are not the only football stars who enjoy Moroccan tea. Moroccan right-back Achraf Hakimi previously posted a video of Paris Saint Germain (PSG) star Kylian Mbappe pouring Moroccan tea in a typically Moroccan style.
