Rabat – Chefchaouen’s picturesque blue-washed buildings took center stage in Vogue Arabia’s May 2023 cover.

Vogue Arabia’s May issue featured Somali-American fashion model Halima Aden wearing different designs in Chefchaouen.

Aden is the first Muslim model to appear wearing a hijab and burkini on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition, which was issued in 2019. She was also the first woman to compete in the Miss Minnesota USA pageant while wearing a hijab.

The fashion model disappeared from the fashion scene for nearly three years but made a comeback on Vogue Arabia’s May cover. “The May 2023 issue of Vogue Arabia celebrates—in spectacular fashion—former model Halima Aden’s return to the cover of the magazine following her departure from the world of modeling in 2020,” Vogue Arabia noted

The magazine described Chefchaouen as a magical village, saying: “Against the glorious blue backdrop of Chefchaouen, a magical village in the northwest of Morocco, Aden sets about etching a new story—one that sees her firmly in the driver’s seat.”

Morocco’s Blue Pearl is a favorite filming location for many ad campaigns. Italian luxury fashion brand Off-White featured Chefchaouen in its campaign for the fall/winter 2022 men and womenswear’s collection.

The campaign featured models in blue-themed clothes, blending perfectly with the blue facades of Chefchaouen.
