Rabat – Morocco’s tourism assets continue to impress travelers, renowned publications, travel services, and websites. Notably, Bloomberg has featured the North African country among its top 24 travel destinations for 2024.

The news outlet reported that Morocco continues to attract millions of tourists from across the world despite a devastating earthquake that struck the country on September 8.

“Despite a destructive earthquake, Morocco had a record year in 2023, welcoming about 14 million travelers – 1 million more than in 2019,” Bloomberg wrote today.

The news outlet attributed the development to efforts made by the country’s tourism authorities, “who’ve encouraged people to explore the country beyond Marrakech.”

Bloomberg listed a group of attractive destinations, including northern Morocco.

“On Morocco’s northern trip, several stylish boutique hotels are creating a scene away from Tanier’s coastal megaresorts,” the magazine said, listing Yves Saint Laurent’s former hideaway, Villa Mabrouka, “now a 12-room hotel.”

The news outlet also suggested Rabat as one of their must-visit-destinations, in addition to Marrakech, which hosts lavashing hotels and places to explore.

The magazine suggested several where-to-stay-in Marrakech, including the Noby Hotel, owned by Hollywood star Robert De Niro.

This is not the only list where Morocco featured as one of the top destinations to visit in 2024.

Lonely Planet also ranked Morocco on Lonely Planet’s best travel destinations for 2024.

“There’s nothing quite like wandering the Sahara Desert on camelback, hunting for bargains in a Marrakech souk and exploring the enchanting blue city of Chefchaouen,” the website said in a brief description of tourism in Morocco.

Several Moroccan destinations also secured spots as must-visit places in 2024.

Notably, Airbnb listed Marrakech as the only Arab and African city among its top 24 destinations to visit in 2024.

CNN also listed Morocco as one of the top 24 must-visit destinations for the year 2024.

“Long-time favorites among travelers due to their diverse landscapes and spectacular architecture, Morocco has rebounded with determination after a devastating earthquake in September of last year,” CNN said on Monday.

Morocco’s tourism revenues reached $9.8 billion at the end of November, an increase of 15.8% compared to a year earlier.

Data from the Exchange Office said today that Morocco attracted 13.2 million tourists as of November and revenues from the sector jumped from $8.5 billion to $9.8 billion.
