Rabat – The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) has sealed several partnerships with Spanish and Latin American travel operators at the 44th edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), taking place between January 24 and 28 in Madrid.
This includes a partnership with leading Spanish tour operator Avoris, which has its sights set on robust growth, ONMT said in a press release.
Avorid had pledged a massive deployment of its entire brand portfolio, aiming to cater to 70,000 clients by 2027, added the statement.
The group also plans to introduce Dakhla as a destination by 2025, accompanied by a dedicated flight through its airline, Iberojet.
ONMT has signed another partnership with the Travelance consortium, featuring prominent Spanish operators Europa Mundo Vacaciones, Soltour, and Luxotour.
The collaboration aims to boost independent travel agencies, with plans for a “Mega Convention” set to take place in Tangier in 2024.
ONMT signed another agreement with maritime company Baleària to help increase the flow of Spanish tourists to Morocco.
The partnership leverages Baleària’s expertise in maritime passenger transport and aims to implement a multimedia communication plan to boost sales, particularly outside the summer season.
New maritime routes from Malaga and Tarifa to the ports of Tangier are also on the horizon.
In Portugal, ONMT has joined forces with the two largest Lusophone tour operators, Abreu & Newtour.
The collaboration includes charter flights from Lisbon to Al Hoceima, Agadir, and Nador/Marchica, aiming to double the number of travelers to these destinations.
During the signing of the agreement, Morocco was awarded a trophy for the “Best International Destination.” ONMT General Director Adel El Fakir received the trophy from GEA Group President Stefan Klebert.
During the FITUR 2024 fair, ONMT teams, including El Fakir, engaged in several meetings with key players in the Iberian and Latin American markets, including airlines such as Binter, Vueling, Iberia Express, and Azul in Brazil.
In addition, connections were established with travel distributors Grupo El Corté Inglès, Abreu, and Destinia.
The statement concluded that ONMT’s “Light In Action” strategy is evidently driving these dynamic initiatives.
