Fez – The Royal Family and the Moroccan people are bracing to celebrate on Wednesday the seventeenth birthday of Princess Lalla Khadija.

The Princess, King Mohammed VI’s second child and only daughter, was born on February 28, 2007. Her birth was officially announced by the Ministry of the Royal House, Protocol, and Chancellery with a 21-gun salute.

On this day, thousands of Moroccans from all across the kingdom headed to the Royal Palace of Rabat to express their joy and happiness.

Morocco’s provincial and regional authorities issued at the time a number of “golden notebooks” to enable citizens to record their congratulations to the King and the royal family, and to express their wishes of good health and happiness to the newborn princess.

On this occasion, Moroccan embassies and consulates in various countries usually witness the influx of a large number of personalities from the worlds of politics, art, sports, media and business, as well as members of diplomatic bodies who express their congratulations.

Princess Lalla Khadija embarked upon her schooling journey in September 2011, by joining the Princely School in Rabat.

In late 2018,  the Princess appeared on the cover of Femmes du Maroc magazine in a traditional green and gold caftan.

A few months later, on February 13, 2019, Princess Lalla Khadija made a remarkable appearance alongside her brother and Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid and Princesses Lalla Meryem, Lalla Asmae, Lalla Hasnaa and Lalla Oum Keltoum, during the official welcoming ceremony of  Spain’s King Don Felipe VI and Queen Dona Letizia.

On December 13, 2019, Princess Lalla Khadija presided over the inauguration ceremony of the vivarium of the National Zoological Garden of Rabat and visited the different spaces of the vivarium which groups together some species of live reptiles from different parts of Africa.

Princess Lalla Khadija’s birthday is an occasion through which Moroccans renew their loyalty and devotion to King Mohammed VI and express their permanent mobilization behind his vision for national stability and prosperity.
