Marrakech – Fatima Saidi, a Moroccan influencer based in Madrid, has taken legal action after being assaulted during an outing near the Eiffel Tower in Paris last week.
The young woman faced an act of violence when a jogger spat on her, denouncing it as both “sexist and racist.”
The 22-year-old woman expressed her shock on her Instagram account.
“We were chatting with my friend when a jogger passed by us. He spat on me. I felt his spit on my veil,” she shared.
The elderly man reportedly made several comments in French and then “flipped her off.” The victim recounts following him to film him.
Later, the influencer presented the documents of her complaint, now filed at the Paris Centre police station.
“The fact that he spat on me twice, even in front of the camera, shows how he fears nothing because he knows there will be no consequences for him,” Fatima said.
In response, the City of Paris has expressed its support for the young woman.
On Friday, Deputy Mayor (PS) Emmanuel Grégoire condemned the act as “both an attack on the Muslim religion and on women,” as well as a violation of “the spirit of tolerance and openness that characterizes Paris.”
This incident of assault happened on Wednesday, April 17, near the Eiffel Tower in the 7th arrondissement.
