Marrakech – The Paris 2024 Olympic Games Closing Ceremony is set to light up the Stade de France today, August 11, at 8 pm Morocco time.
The all-star musical lineup for the Los Angeles Olympic Games 2028 (LA28) handover has just been revealed, set to take center stage at the Closing Ceremony tonight.
The LA28 Handover celebration features a blockbuster lineup of California-based music artists, introducing LA28 to the world by blending Los Angeles’ vibrant culture of entertainment, diversity, and creativity with a strong focus on sport.
“This is the biggest moment in LA28 history to date, as the Olympic flag passes from Paris to LA,” stated Casey Wasserman, LA28 Chairperson.
Wasserman shared that the show will feature “the very best of LA with local artists,” including Billie Eilish, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snoop Dog.
The chairperson added that this event will “show to a global audience that will give fans a taste of what’s to come in 2028.”
Grammy, Academy, and Emmy Award-winner H.E.R. is also set to perform, singing the U.S. national anthem live.
Additional artists who might grace the stage on Sunday have yet to be announced.
Joining the program are Team USA Olympians, including two-time Olympic medalist skateboarder Jagger Eaton, mountain biker Kate Courtney, and track and field gold medalist Michael Johnson.
Each athlete has been a part of the beginning of LA28’s journey, with custom-designed LA28 emblems released in July.
“The LA28 Handover promises to showcase the heartbeat of LA – which like the Olympics – is where people come from all over the world to pursue their dreams,” highlighted Ben Winston, executive producer and creator of the event.
Before the ceremony kicks off, organizers promise to turn the Stade de France into a colossal concert hall, featuring over 100 performers, acrobats, dancers, and circus artists.
As soon as the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics will finish in Paris, the spotlight will shift to Los Angeles for the 2028 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad.
From July 14 to 30, 2028, LA will dazzle as the host city, with events extending across the Greater Los Angeles area and even reaching into Oklahoma City.
