Rabat- In its latest 2024-2025 Country Brand Ranking/Tourism Edition report, Spanish firm Bloom Consulting has awarded Morocco a significant milestone, elevating it to the second spot in Africa’s tourism rankings.

This marks the first time Morocco has surpassed South Africa, now only trailing Egypt, and cements its reputation as a top travel destination on the continent.

The report emphasizes Morocco’s impressive rise, attributed to advancements in social media engagement, online performance, and overall destination appeal. South Africa has meanwhile fallen to third place, highlighting Morocco’s growing prominence as a must-visit location.

Additionally, the report highlights Morocco’s resilience in overcoming challenges, including last year’s devastating earthquake.

“The country’s resilience in the face of challenges, such as the recent earthquake in September 2023, will be crucial in shaping its future tourism landscape and will provide insightful data for analysis in future rankings,” the report states.

Bloom Consulting evaluates destinations based on criteria including tourism revenue, search engine queries, website performance, and social media presence.

Among the 35 leading African destinations assessed, twenty have shown improvements.

Notably, Sao Tome and Principe advanced by 8 positions, while Cete d’Ivoire, boosted by the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, surged 11 positions in the rankings.
