From Rabat to Marrakech, Glovo has been a game-changer for satisfying food cravings anytime, anywhere in Morocco.

Marrakech – Glovo Maroc is turning up the excitement in Casablanca. At a lively inauguration ceremony, Oscar Pierre, the CEO and founder, joined partners to unveil their new headquarters.

This event also marked a sweet six-year anniversary for Glovo in Morocco, showcasing “The Yellow Effect,” a report by the international institute Statista that highlights the platform’s impressive economic and social impact in the country.

“Over the past six years in Morocco, we’ve achieved remarkable successes, particularly in digital transformation and supporting local businesses. We’ve grown alongside Moroccans, continually innovating to meet their needs and creating a lasting economic and social impact in our ecosystem,” said Hamza Naciri Bennani, General Director of Glovo Morocco.

“Looking ahead, our commitment is to build on these solid foundations by strengthening our partnerships and exploring new opportunities to enhance our ecosystem,” Bennani said. 

Over the past six years, Glovo has established itself as a key player in digital transformation, paving a new path for growth and inclusion within the local economy while revolutionizing Moroccan consumer habits. 

“The Yellow Effect” report encapsulated Glovo’s significant role in developing the retail and restaurant sectors, as well as promoting digital and financial inclusion.

According to the report’s data, in 2023, Glovo and its partners generated an economic value of MAD 2.64 billion in Morocco through the Glovo platform.

This economic contribution secured 8,622 full-time job opportunities in 2023, significantly reducing the informal economy and promoting financial inclusion in the restaurant and retail sectors, as well as in agriculture and industry through indirect effects.

Today, over 5,500 couriers use the platform across the country to earn flexible income. Additionally, they benefit from social coverage provided by Glovo, which includes individual insurance, sickness bonuses, and a training and learning program.

Based on a study conducted by Statista among small and medium-sized enterprises in the restaurant and retail sectors in Morocco, 80% of participants reported that their collaboration with Glovo was crucial to their success, with the majority confirming that the platform significantly impacted their sales and growth.

At the event, Glovo also highlighted its commitment to social responsibility. In recent years, Glovo has consistently innovated to leverage its technology for various social causes. 

Additionally, the platform raised over MAD 2 million (after the tragic Al Haouz earthquake through its “Bulle de Donation” initiative and supported numerous associations during Ramadan donation campaigns, including SOS Village d’Enfants, Jood, and La Banque Alimentaire. 

As a leading technology player, Glovo has also showcased its impact on the Moroccan startup ecosystem through its Tech Catalyst program, which recently enabled eight Moroccan startups to participate in a tailored immersion program at the company’s headquarters in Barcelona.
