It’s about time that Asilah, the northern coastal city that already feels like a painting, welcomed a center to teach another form of art.

Marrakech – On October 27, the Bahrain Institute for Eastern Music was inaugurated in Asilah, Morocco with the participation of Nabeel bin Yacoub Al Hamer, Advisor to the King for Media Affairs, and Mohammed bin Issa, Chairman of the Asilah Cultural Forum.

The opening of the institute was held as part of the 45th International Asilah Cultural Season with the aim of training young musicians from the Asilah and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima regions. It will offer education in general music principles and eastern music, with a focus on the foundations and development of Arab and Moroccan music.

Students will also engage in studies covering musical theory, instrumental practice, and various audio effects.

Supported by Bahrain, this place of musical learning symbolizes the deep historic relationship between Bahrain and Morocco, fostered by the support of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and King Mohammed VI of Morocco.

On Instagram, Bahrain News Agency highlighted the significance of the institute’s establishment, stating that it “reflects the deep historic relations between the two kingdoms.”

The foundation stone for the Bahrain Institute for Eastern Music was initially laid years prior during the 42nd edition of the Asilah Cultural Festival, marking the beginning of a collaborative project that has now come to fruition in Asilah.
