Marrakech’s unique blend of culture and energy offers the perfect backdrop for horse racing enthusiasts and casual fans alike.

Casablanca – Get ready, because Marrakech is about to become the epicenter of African horse racing with the third edition of the Grand Prix of Africa, running from October 31 to November 2, 2024.

This year, the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Horses (SOREC) is teaming up again with the African Lotteries Association (ALA) to bring a fresh spin to this iconic event.

What’s New This Year?

Not just your regular race days – this year’s edition is stepping it up with a new three-day format.

There will notably be a forum of African experts sharing insights on game regulation, covering important topics like security, legal matters, and tax issues.

This knowledge-sharing will happen alongside the main event, with a special day set aside for the ultimate horse races.

Think of it as a blend of serious business and thrilling entertainment.

Why Marrakech?

Marrakech is no stranger to hosting large-scale events, and the Grand Prix of Africa is no exception.

The city’s unique blend of culture and energy offers the perfect backdrop for horse racing enthusiasts and casual fans alike.

Last year’s edition attracted over 3,000 attendees and delegates from 12 African countries.

This year, it’s set to be bigger and bolder, putting Marrakech at the heart of African equestrian sports.

Meet the Visionaries

The event wouldn’t be possible without the visionaries behind it. SOREC’s Director General, Omar Skalli, and ALA President, Dramane Coulibaly, are passionate about making African horse racing a global talking point.

Skalli emphasized the significance of the event, calling it “an unmissable reference in African horse racing,” while Coulibaly praised Morocco’s role in uniting Africa’s horse racing ecosystem under one roof.

More Than Just a Race

Founded in 2003, SOREC is dedicated to all things equine in Morocco, from horse breeding to organizing races.

Meanwhile, the ALA, established in Dakar in 1981, connects Africa’s game operators to foster economic integration through continent-wide gaming.

Together, they are leveraging the Grand Prix of Africa to elevate horse racing across the continent.

So if you’re into high-speed action, cultural vibes, or just want to see Africa’s best jockeys in action, make sure Marrakech is on your radar.

This isn’t just another horse race – it’s the Grand Prix of Africa, where tradition meets innovation.
