Thanks to this bold initiative, the city’s walls have traded their everyday gray for vibrant splashes of color, turning urban corners into open-air galleries.

Marrakech – Casablanca just wrapped up the 9th edition of Casamouja, and let’s just say the city’s walls have never looked more alive.

Imagine turning a corner and being greeted by a monumental mural that doesn’t just brighten your day but also sparks a little reflection.

That’s the magic of Casamouja – a bold initiative by Casablanca Events & Animation to bring art out of the galleries and into the streets.

This year, the event was a celebration of civic pride and shared values: civility, solidarity, integrity, patriotism, tolerance, and peace.

Big words, yes, but Casamouja made them feel real, tangible, and, most importantly, visible.

The 2024 edition feels like a love letter to Casablanca, written in bold strokes of paint and packed with meaning.

In a time when art and culture are stepping up as real game changers in Morocco, this project is proof that creativity can spark transformation.

These murals aren’t just eye candy – they’re reminders of the values that keep society grounded: responsibility, solidarity, and inclusivity.

What makes these pieces special is how they bridge the old and the new. They honor Morocco’s cultural roots while opening the door to fresh, contemporary artistic expression.

And the best part? They’re for everyone. Whether you’re walking to work or just out exploring, these murals are there to nudge you into a collective reflection about what it means to live and grow together.

This year’s Casamouja brought together a group of talented artists who each added their own unique voice to Casablanca’s urban canvas.

Among them were Hamza Bendarham, known as Ben, who crafted two murals focusing on environmental protection and intergenerational connection.

Said Sabbah, aka Dais, created a powerful piece symbolizing unity and solidarity with intertwined hands, emphasizing human interdependence.

Salma El Ouardi and Oussama Ait Taleb also collaborated on a stunning mural that fuses traditional Moroccan elements with everyday objects, brought to life through vibrant, contrasting colors.

These artists, along with others, have made Casamouja not just a celebration of public art but a call for reflection on the values that bind us together.

With over 90 murals completed across the districts of Casablanca since the launch of this initiative, the project continues to reshape the city’s identity.

Each mural is more than just art; it becomes a landmark, a gathering place where locals can connect and rediscover their city through an artistic lens.

These works, straddling the line between honoring Moroccan culture and embracing diversity, enrich the public space, transforming everyday streets into places that invite conversation, reflection, and awe.

This year’s edition beautifully captured the soul of Casablanca, celebrating civic values through thought-provoking, inspiring art.

It’s a testament to the power of street art as both a form of expression and a tool for raising awareness, encouraging every Casablancan to get involved in building a more responsible, inclusive, and environmentally conscious society.
