Villa-Harris’s flagship artistic exploration of Tangier’s unique appeal  is a portal to a bygone era – a chance to rediscover how artists of the past saw the colorful city.

Marrakech – Villa-Harris opened on Friday its doors to a captivating display of works by some of the most renowned European artists who visited the city at the turn of the 20th century.

The whole experience felt like strolling through the vibrant streets of Tangier, as George Apperley, Terrick Williams, and Enrique Simonet Lombardo once did, capturing the essence of the city’s neighborhoods, iconic landmarks, and everyday life.

This exhibition doesn’t just showcase beautiful paintings; it’s a portal to a bygone era – a chance to rediscover how artists of the past saw the city.

It brought much-needed attention to works that reflect a world of color, light, and history, telling the story of Tangier through the eyes of those who wandered its streets in search of inspiration.

The exhibition is a perfect complement to the museum’s permanent collection, which already features works by celebrated artists like Jacques Majorelle, Claudio Bravo, and Edy Legrand.

But this time, visitors are called to dive deep into the city’s allure at the turn of the century, exploring how artists captured its soul.

Organized by the Fondation Nationale des Musées and Medina Art Gallery, this exhibition is a love letter to a city that has inspired countless creatives over the years.

“Tanger, La Passion de la Couleur” is an invitation to see Tanger anew, to feel its magic, and to step into the past through the brushstrokes of those who once called it home.

If you’re in the area, you won’t want to miss this – a chance to experience the timeless beauty of Tanger, as it was then and still is today.
