Marrakech – Noureddine Amir, a distinguished figure in Moroccan artistry, is among the talents showcased by Abla Ababou gallery at the upcoming 6th edition of the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair. 

Known for his innovative approach to traditional Moroccan craftsmanship, Amir has carved a niche in both the art and fashion worlds.

Born in Rabat in 1967 and now based in Marrakech, Amir’s creative journey began after graduating from ESMOD in 1996. 

His career initially centered on costume design, notably collaborating with artist Shirin Neshat, before pivoting to Moroccan caftans with his Haik collection in 2001. 

His work, which merges unique textures like raffia, henna-printed fabrics, and muslin with sculptural artistry, has been celebrated globally. 

Highlights include exhibitions at the Antwerp Fashion Museum, the Arab World Institute in Paris, and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech.
