The museum, once the muse of the legendary designer, is about to offer a glimpse into his world like never before.

Marrakech –  In just a few weeks, the Yves Saint Laurent Museum will open its doors to a fashion experience like no other, and trust me, it’s going to be an event you won’t want to miss.

Today, we’re talking about “Yves Saint Laurent: The Hamish Bowles Collection,” at the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech, which will openJanuary 31.

If you’re even remotely like me, constantly in search of beauty, history, and a glimpse of the sublime, this is the show that will transport you to another world.

The Marrakech museum will have on display 55 breathtaking garments, each one steeped in the legacy of a designer who forever changed how we see fashion.

These aren’t just clothes, darling — they’re stories. And not just any stories, but the kind of stories only a collector like Hamish Bowles can tell.

You know Hamish, right? The fashion historian with a knack for spotting the extraordinary in the most unexpected places?

Well, this time, he’s brought his unrivaled eye to a collection that’s about to set Marrakech on fire — fashionably, of course.

You’ll find yourself walking through three pivotal chapters of Yves Saint Laurent’s genius: his early years at Christian Dior (we’re talking 1958 to 1960), the iconic House of Yves Saint Laurent (from 1961 through 2002), and, of course, the evolution of Saint Laurent Rive Gauche.

These pieces aren’t from the typical archives — they’re straight from Hamish’s own private collection, making this a personal experience you can’t get anywhere else.

It’s like being invited into the inner sanctum of a fashion lover’s wildest dreams.

The exhibition’s scenography, designed by opera director Patrick Kinmonth, promises to be nothing short of magical.

Imagine the elegance of the ‘60s mingling with the baroque flair of Morocco. This is an immersive experience, a celebration of how Yves Saint Laurent’s work feels both timeless and modern at once.

But here’s the kicker: These are more than runway pieces.

From a cocktail dress worn in 1957 to a blue Rive Gauche jumpsuit worn by the legendary Betty Catroux, each garment tells a story of its own.

Some were worn by fashion icons like Nan Kempner and Lily Safra, others by women you’ll never know, but all speak to the enduring genius of Yves Saint Laurent.

And don’t even get me started on the patchwork ensemble from 1969. If you’re lucky enough to see it, you’ll be transported straight to Marrakech, the place that so clearly influenced his designs.

It’s as though Yves had a direct line to the spirit of the city, capturing its essence in fabric and thread.

So, what does this all mean for us, fashion lovers? It means that we have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience fashion through a collector’s eyes — through the lens of someone who sees not just a dress, but a memory, a moment, an emotion.

It’s the kind of experience that makes you look at fashion a little differently.

Maybe it even makes you want to take — yet another — trip to Marrakech… but who’s counting?

This exhibition is a living, breathing tribute to Yves Saint Laurent’s influence, the legacy he’s built, and the world of fashion that continues to be shaped by his genius.

So go ahead, plan that trip, slip on your favorite pair of heels, and let Yves Saint Laurent’s vision of the world be the next chapter in your own style story.
