It was a balmy evening in Marrakech, with the aroma of spices, butter, and something delightfully foreign yet familiar wafting through the air.
Marrakech – We’re talking about Rawnak — an immersive cultural and culinary soiree that turned one February night into a feast for the senses.
Hosted by BusinessChef, a club within ENCG Marrakech, this event wasn’t just about food — it was about storytelling.
Because what is culture, if not a collection of stories passed down through flavors, rhythms, and shared moments?
From the get-go, guests were treated like royalty.
The crowd mingled under the Moroccan sky, anticipation hanging as thick as the scent of cinnamon and saffron.
And it wasn’t just any crowd. The evening was graced by notable personalities like artists Driss Roukh and Hicham Lajbari, as well as celebrities such as Chef Ghayda and Houssam Bidda.
Rawnak was not just a dinner party; it was an unforgettable culinary journey across continents, each dish telling a story of its origins.
The night kicked off with the beloved Moroccan bastilla, a pastry that perfectly embodies the country’s rich history and complexity.
Paired with a soulful Gnawa performance, guests were transported straight into the heart of Morocco’s musical and culinary traditions.
But that was only the beginning. A quick detour to the Middle East saw guests savoring tender shawarmas, followed by a performance that evoked the magic of Eastern rhythms.
Next, the rich flavors of Italy graced the table with a creamy, aromatic risotto that had the crowd murmuring in approval.
To complement the experience, the musical group Les Talons from ENCG Marrakech brought the evening to life with vibrant tunes.
Not to be outdone, the French contribution to the evening was equally impressive. Patisseries, delicate and sweet, melted on the tongue as guests indulged in the rich history of French desserts — accompanied, of course, by more Les Talons melodies.
The grand finale, however, was a beautiful tribute to the country of Gabon.
In celebration of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) hosted by Morocco, a Gabonese performance set the stage ablaze, leaving the crowd in awe of the country’s rich culture and vibrant spirit.
