Marrakech – You’re strolling through the streets of Tangier, caught somewhere between its old-world charm and cosmopolitan buzz, when suddenly, you stumble upon an explosion of color, emotion, and Salvadoran creativity.
No, you haven’t teleported to Central America. Instead, El Salvador is coming to you.
Led by Ambassador Ignacio de Cossio, the Embassy of El Salvador in Morocco is bringing the largest Salvadoran art exhibition in Africa to the Cervantes Institute in Tangier from April 4 to 19.
And trust me, it’s not just another art show — it’s a full-blown cultural rendezvous.
With 23 works from 16 Salvadoran artists — including big names like Fernando Llort, Renacho Melgar, and Madger Linares — the exhibition is all about bridging continents through visual storytelling.
Expect a mix of realism, abstract expressionism, and everything in between, because Salvadoran art doesn’t do “one size fits all.”
Beyond the canvas, this exhibition is a conversation starter, proving that art speaks a universal language — one that effortlessly travels from Latin America to Morocco and beyond.
And with Morocco increasingly positioning itself as a hub for cultural exchange, this event is yet another reminder that our country is more than just a meeting point between Africa and Europe; it’s a creative crossroads where diverse worlds collide.
So, if you’re in Tangier and looking for an artistic escape, consider this your official invitation.
The gallery doors are open from Tuesday to Sunday, 4:30 p.m to 9:30 p.m.
