Marrakech – From Morocco With Love is definitely focused on just that. Opening officially on May 18, at the iconic Es Saadi Palace in Marrakech, this isn’t just an art show — it’s a story of love, legacy, and the magic that happens when someone decides to collect moments, not things.

Curated around the themes of discovery and sharing, From Morocco With Love showcases decades of modern and contemporary Moroccan art, lovingly assembled by Elisabeth Bauchet-Bouhlal and her late husband, Jamil Bouhlal.

The collection spans from post-independence artistic movements all the way to the bold, unfiltered expressions of the Gen Z creators shaking up the scene today.

So how did it all begin?

At just 23 years old, Elisabeth was handed the reins of the luxury Hotel Es Saadi by her father, Jean Bauchet, a major figure in post-war France’s entertainment and hospitality world.

But what started as a professional venture quickly turned into a personal passion.

Arriving in Morocco, she didn’t just fall into hotel management — she fell in love with an entire culture.

Her connection with Morocco wasn’t surface-level. It was deep, heartfelt, and transformative.

And when asked why she started building such an impressive collection of Moroccan art, her answer is beautifully honest, “Out of passion, out of friendship, and to give back what I saw and loved.”

For Elisabeth, collecting wasn’t just about taste — it was about relationships, memories, and moments that deserved to be honored.

Her commitment to Moroccan artists didn’t go unnoticed.

In 2014, she was decorated by King Mohammed VI during the inauguration of the Rabat Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.

“That recognition left a deep mark on me,” she said.

“It was a foundational moment, and a strong encouragement to keep moving forward — first to honor the incredible work initiated by His Majesty Mohammed VI for arts and culture, and to be part of that national movement supporting the arts.”

Now, almost ten years later, Elisabeth is opening her collection to the world.

“Nearly ten years after receiving that honor, I’m proud to welcome Moroccan and international visitors and show them that the artists featured in this exhibition are just as admirable as their foreign counterparts who are recognized in the global story of modern art.”

So, if you’re in Marrakech this spring and find yourself craving a moment of connection, step into From Morocco With Love.

Let yourself wander through rooms filled with stories, emotion, and color. It’s not just an exhibition. It’s a shared experience.

A declaration of love for Moroccan art — and a reminder that sometimes, the most powerful messages are painted, not spoken.
