Marrakech – There are moments in life when you feel like you’ve been thrown into another galaxy — and in Pixar’s upcoming cosmic adventure Elio, that’s exactly what happens.
He’s 11. He’s awkward. He’s in love with the stars, but barely feels like he belongs on Earth. And suddenly? He’s mistaken for the official ambassador of the entire planet. Classic Tuesday.
Pixar’s Elio, hitting Moroccan cinemas on June 18, 2025, is the animated space odyssey we didn’t know we needed — a soulful, star-splashed coming-of-age story that boldly goes where every misfit has emotionally gone before: the quest to find themselves.
Directed by a powerhouse trio — Adrian Molina, Domee Shi, and Madeline Sharafian — Elio takes us into the Communiverse, a fabulous federation of alien civilizations where everyone has a seat at the galactic table… except Elio, who crash-landed into the metaphorical dinner party and now has to wing it with humor, heart, and help from a delightfully weird alien named Glordon (yes, Glordon).
Along for the ride — vocally, at least — are stars like Zoe Saldaña (as Elio’s fierce mother, Major Olga), Jameela Jamil, Brad Garrett, and the wonderfully expressive Yonas Kibreab in the titular role. The voice cast alone is enough to make us want to pack our spacebags.
But this isn’t just a visual stunner with intergalactic fashion (seriously, the aliens are giving runway on Jupiter). It’s a story about identity. About being seen. About the terrifying, thrilling process of figuring out who you are — and the universal truth that sometimes, the farther you go, the closer you get to yourself.
As always, Pixar doesn’t just aim for your eyes — it lands straight in your chest. So yes, you’ll laugh. You’ll gasp. You’ll maybe shed a tear when Elio stands up and finally says what every outsider dreams of saying: This is who I am.
