Free Fire Celebrates 8th Anniversary, Teams Up With Netflix’s Squid Game
This year, Free Fire just blew out eight candles — and who strutted into the room, decked out in a red jumpsuit and holding a creepy doll?
Marrakech – Garena Free Fire is teaming up with Netflix’s iconic survival series for its 8th birthday bash that’s part game night, part psychological thriller, and all fabulous chaos.
This collaboration is launching hot on the heels of the highly anticipated final season of Squid Game, released worldwide on June 27.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate once again with Netflix — this time bringing the dark and thrilling Squid Game universe into Free Fire in a way that truly speaks to our passionate battle royale community,” said Harold Teo, Free Fire’s global producer (aka the man making sure we all have fabulous panic attacks in-game).
Starting July 18, players around the globe can live out their Squid Game fantasies (without the actual risk of death, thankfully) through immersive survival challenges built right into Free Fire’s Battle Royale and Clash Squad modes.
Featured Game Modes:
Red Light, Green Light: Players must loot and survive without being detected by Young-hee, the motion-sensing doll. Those caught moving during red light phases will be frozen, while skilled survivors can earn high-value rewards.
Glass Bridge Trial: Players will attempt to cross a series of fragile glass tiles, requiring quick decision-making and nerve. A wrong step reduces health points dramatically, increasing the tension mid-match.
Dalgona Challenge: Traditional dalgona candy stands will appear during matches. Players who succeed in “licking” the candy correctly without breaking it will receive exclusive in-game rewards.
Hidden Symbols: Special Squid Game-inspired symbols are scattered across the maps. Discovering them unlocks exclusive loot and gameplay bonuses.
Throughout the event, players can collect tokens by completing in-game missions. These tokens can be deposited into the Squid Game Cash Bank, unlocking a variety of exclusive themed items, including:
Young-hee Doll Outfit: A costume inspired by the infamous doll from Red Light, Green Light, featuring the signature bright orange dress.
Iconic Voice Lines: Equip memorable quotes from the show, such as “The Mugunghwa flower has bloomed,” to add an immersive touch to matches.
Loot Box Skins – Ribbon Boxes: Eliminated players will reappear as stylized pink-and-black loot crates, reflecting the visual theme of Squid Game.
Game Profile Banner: A thematic banner for players to showcase their participation in the event.
Additional cosmetics available in the store
Alongside mission-based rewards, players will also be able to purchase limited-edition Squid Game content from the Free Fire item shop, including:
Pink Guard Uniforms
Green Contestant Tracksuits
Cash Bank-Themed Backpack
“Red Light, Green Light” Gloo Wall Skin
Are you ready?
