The streaming platform has finally given us a taste of the long awaited series.
Rabat – The first image of Harry Potter HBO series lead actor, Dominic McLaughlin, was released on July 14,2025. McLaughlin wore the recognizable round glasses and draped a long Hogwarts school robe.
The adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s book series is being filmed at the same Warner Bros Studios Leavesden as the eight Harry Potter movies in Hertfordshire and is set to launch in 2027. The long awaited show began its production almost 14 years after the last Harry Potter movie had been released.
With Francesca Gardiner as the showrunner and writer and Mark Mylod directing, each of the seven seasons will be composed of a Harry Potter book. HBO previously confirmed in an X post that the series will be “a faithful adaptation of the iconic books.”
This work is executive produced by Rowling, Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV and David Heyman of Heyday Films.
From the Harry Potter HBO series casting call last fall – where over 30,000 young actors auditioned – McLaughlin was selected as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
The extended series cast has been confirmed including Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch, Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander, John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Nick Frost as Hagrid, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape.
Department heads have been reported, including director of photography Adriano Goldman, hair and makeup designer Cate Hall, costume designer Holly Waddington, withPaul Herbert as stunt coordinator.
Moreover, Mark Holt was announced as SFX supervisor, Mara LePere-Schloop as production designer, Naomi Moore as set decorator, John Nolan as creature effects design supervisor , Alexis Wajsbrot as VFX supervisor and Dom Sidoli as VFX producer.
