Marrakech – The Moroccan Film Production Assistance Commission has just revealed the list of projects approved for advance funding during the second 2025 session, held from July 7 to 17.
Let’s just say — if film were fashion, this year’s lineup would be the haute couture of storytelling.
According to a statement from the Moroccan Centre for Cinematography (CCM), the commission reviewed one feature film and four short films for post-production funding, while also examining 42 feature films, 2 short films, 1 documentary project, and 12 scriptwriting proposals for pre-production advances.
Now, if you thought fiction was where all the drama lives — think again.
The Culture, History, and Sahraoui Hassani Space documentary category alone attracted 27 submissions for pre-production support. (Who said history doesn’t sell?)
And yes — the grants are in.
In the fiction category:
The short film “Livre du jour”, presented by Public Media Prod and Events and directed by Walid Lamharzi Alaoui, was awarded MAD 160,000 for post-production.
As for full-length feature films?
“Histoire d’amour en 10 chansons, 3 mariages et 1 baiser” (yes, the title is giving rom-com realness), directed by Faouzi Bensaïdi, received MAD 4 million.
The project is presented by Mont Fleuri Production and is based on Bensaïdi’s own script.
“Holy Cow”, by acclaimed filmmaker Asmae El Moudir, was granted MAD 3.5 million, produced by Insight Films.
