A forgotten past meets futuristic storytelling in Casablanca’s newest cultural landmark.

Fez – Casablanca has officially welcomed a new cultural landmark, with the Sidi Abderrahman Archaeological Park opening its doors to the public on July 16. The launch marked a major step in Morocco’s ongoing efforts to celebrate and preserve its rich historical heritage.

It coincided with the Casablanca stop of Nostalgia: The Emotion of Yesterday, a traveling artistic experience that reimagines the past through immersive visuals and cutting-edge technology.

The “Nostalgia” program, which began this year in Fez, is designed to spotlight Morocco’s most iconic archaeological and historical sites.

It uses a contemporary approach, merging art, storytelling, and digital media, to breathe new life into ancient narratives.

A bridge between time periods

After captivating audiences in Rabat, the program has now arrived in Casablanca, with future stops planned in cities like Agadir and beyond.

Sidi Abderrahman Park is a bridge between time periods. Nestled on the edge of the Atlantic, the park documents Morocco’s prehistoric roots, providing a rare look into the country’s earliest civilizations.

For Casablanca, a city often seen as a symbol of modernity, this project brings a deeper dimension to its cultural identity.

According to the regional director of the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, the park stands is a “source of pride for the region.” It offers not only a historically significant space but also a new cultural attraction for locals and visitors.

The goal, she noted, is to create an accessible place where people of all ages can learn, explore, and connect with the layers of history beneath their feet.

As part of the festivities, the “Nostalgia” program presented a spectacular drone show, painting the night sky with luminous recreations of Casablanca’s ancient landmarks and prehistoric fauna.

The visual experience was designed to spark both wonder and reflection, using the medium of light to narrate stories that go back thousands of years.

Under the theme “Casablanca First,” the current edition of “Nostalgia” runs until July 20, offering a series of nightly performances that blend visual art, cultural storytelling, and advanced tech.

It’s a celebration of heritage, but one that speaks the language of today’s audience: cinematic, sensory, and emotionally intelligent.

The launch event drew a wide range of attendees, including public officials, cultural figures, and community leaders.

Among them were the president of the Casablanca-Settat regional council, the acting secretary general of the Ministry of Culture, and the director general of Casablanca Events and Animation.

What’s unfolding in Sidi Abderrahman Park is more than a revival, it’s a redefinition of how Morocco chooses to tell its story.
