Fez ‒ The 13th International Festival of Arts and Culture, “Ete des Oudayas;” raised the curtain last evening, turning the Bouregreg corniche into an open air stage for Moroccan heritage.

Moroccan icon Hayat El Idrissi opened the festivities with a medley of her classic hits before accepting the coveted festival trophy in recognition of her decades long career, drawing a standing ovation from the waterfront crowd.

The night’s bill also featured genre bending pop star Hatim Idar, who kept fans on their feet with chart topping singles.

The festival has consistently improved its programming, prizes, and organization, solidifying its position on Morocco’s summer calendar.

A diverse lineup of artists is slated to perform, showcasing the rich tapestry of Moroccan musical traditions. From the soulful melodies of fusion Gnaoua to the energetic beats of hip-hop, the festival offers something for every musical taste.

Each edition opens up to young talents and new styles while giving pioneers their due, reflecting the breadth of the national music scene.

Running through 31 July, the programme mixes fusion Gnaoua, Amazigh folk, hip‑hop, and pop, with sets by Mustapha Bakbou, H‑Kayne, Aïcha Tachinouite and Nasr Megri among others.

Building on this tradition, the festival aims to be a cornerstone of Morocco’s cultural diplomacy, fostering artistic exchange and promoting the kingdom’s rich heritage on an international stage.

All concerts are free on a first‑come basis, with shows starting nightly at 8:30 p.m. By spotlighting both legends and fresh voices, organisers hope the festival will reinforce Rabat’s status as a UNESCO Creative City of Music and cement the capital’s role as a hub for cultural tourism.

Organisers anticipate a record turnout for the 13th edition, building on the success of previous years.

Without a doubt, the festival continues to be a highlight of Rabat’s cultural calendar, attracting visitors from across Morocco and beyond. Its focus on accessibility, with free concerts, emphasizes its commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive artistic community.
