Rabat – For the third time in MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) history, Lady Gaga leads all artists in nominations, securing a notable 12 nods this year. She aims to expand her collection of 18 VMA wins with key nominations across major categories, including Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Best Album. 

Gaga previously held the top nomination spot in 2010 (with 13 nominations) and 2020 (tying for the lead with 9 nominations).

Other leading contenders include Bruno Mars (11 nominations), Kendrick Lamar (10 nominations), Rosé and Sabrina Carpenter (each with 8 nominations), Ariana Grande and The Weeknd (each with 7 nominations), Billie Eilish (6 nominations), Charli XCX (5 nominations), and Bad Bunny, Doechii, Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, Miley Cyrus, and Tate McRae (each with 4 nominations), among others.

Furthermore, the closely watched contest for the all-time VMA victory record continues between Beyoncé and Taylor Swift. Both artists are nominated in the highly competitive Artist of the Year category, ensuring significant interest from their respective fan bases.

This year’s MTV Video Music Awards introduce two new competitive categories: Best Country and Best Pop Artist. 

Additional program details, including performer lineups, special honorees, social categories, and further announcements, will be revealed in the coming weeks. Voting across all 19 gender-neutral categories is now open to fans at vote.mtv.com, closing on Friday, September 5, at 6:00 p.m. 

Voting for Best New Artist remains active until the live broadcast begins. The ceremony returns live from New York’s UBS Arena on Sunday, September 7, airing coast-to-coast at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT. It will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network and simulcast on MTV.
