Rabat – On September 25, Netflix will release “House of Guinness,” an eight-episode period drama that immerses viewers in the lavish and tumultuous world of the Guinness family during the 1860s, from Steven Knight, “Peaky Blinders” creator.
Set in 19th-century Dublin and New York, this story delves into the lives of Sir Benjamin Guinness’s four adult children–Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Ben– as they navigate the complexities of inheriting the world’s most renowned brewery. “The first priority is: Don’t screw it up. And the second priority is to make Guinness even bigger,” Knight tells Tudum.
The series opens with the death of Sir Benjamin Guiness, setting the stage for a gripping exploration of legacy, power, and ambition. As the siblings grapple with their newfound responsibilities, they must decide whether to uphold or redefine their father’s legacy.
Anthony Boyle portrays Arthur Guinness, the determined eldest son, while Louis Partridge takes on the role of Edward Guinness, his introspective brother. Emily Fairn brings Anne Plunket (born Guinness) to life, and Fionn O’Shea plays Benjamin Guinness.
Described as “naturally wild” by Knight, the creator is excited for audiences to meet this clan. “I’m just in awe of their zest for life — their lust for life, often literally,” he says.
The ensemble cast also features James Norton, Dervla Kirwan, Jack Gleeson, and Niamh McCormack, each adding more depth to the intricate web of relationships within the Guinness family and their associates.
Alongside Knight, this series is brought to life by Karen Wilson, Elinor Day, Martin Haines, Tom Shankland, and Ivana Lowell. Cahal Bannon and Howard Burch also oversee production, with Shankland directing four episodes and Mounia Akl helming two, all under the Kudos banner.
Knight’s previous collaboration with Kudos on the 2022 war thriller “SAS: Rogue Heroes” proved a hit, and when the production house approached him with the Guinness family story, his answer was immediate: “Yes, definitely!”
