Marrakech – Hib’Art Theatre Company unveiled their newest play, “Reluctance,” written by Chaymae El Mouzaine and directed by Adil Abatourab, promises a raw, poetic, and utterly human exploration of voice, power, and liberation.

Supported by Morocco’s Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication and in partnership with Theatre Aquarium, the play will premiere on September 1, at 8 p.m., at Theatre Al Mansour in Rabat.

At the heart of the story is Radia, a woman silenced by years of marital domination. Yet her muteness isn’t a weakness;it’s a quiet storm.

Layer by layer, her suppressed voice builds until it erupts, reshaping the power around her. Through poetic language, expressive movement, and choreographed sequences, the performance captures Radia’s inner turbulence; the clash between imposed submission and an irrepressible desire for freedom.

The talented cast includes Jalila Talemsi, Zineb Alji, and Amine Talidi, while the visual and sonic landscapes are shaped by Kawtar Bensajjay (scenography & costumes), Mouad Byari (video-mapping & music), and Adam Essabir (lighting).

Behind the scenes, production and administration are expertly handled by Othmane Labyad and Basma El Alj.

More than a theatre piece, “Reluctance” is a voice raised against imposed destiny, a celebration of the transformative power of speech, and a reminder that sometimes, the quietest ones carry the loudest truths.
