Marrakech – Returning for its 4th edition, Dubai Design Week (DDW) the city’s annual extravaganza, will run from November 4-9, promising a week full of innovation and imagination.
If you’re a design lover, you’d better get ready, because the calendar is packed. Downtown Design, an exhibition and trade center in Dubai, also known as the d3 Waterfront Terrace, will become the region’s premium design fair, with furniture, lighting, lifestyle products, and materials from both local icons and fresh newcomers.
You can expect household names like Kartell, Kohler, and Vitra rubbing shoulders with Roche Bobois, Stellar Works, and Calico Wallpaper.
Regional creativity will shine as well, with contributions from Lebanon’s BEIT Collective, UAE-based platforms like Tashkeel and MAKE, and Saudi Arabia’s “Designed in Saudi” initiative.
Beyond the fair, will tempt collectors with limited-edition design and art, spanning photography, ceramics, and contemporary objects.
Highlights include international debuts and regionally inspired collaborations, such as the “David/Nicolas x Iwan Maktabi” project.
Urban commissions will also return with a challenge to architects and designers, by reimagining the courtyard as a climate-conscious communal space. UAE-based studio, Some Kind of Practice, won this year, drawing inspiration from the Emirati “housh,” while reinventing it for modern community living.
Education will be a prime focus as well. Workshops and talks will feature experts from several institutions, including MIT and UAL, and leading regional studios, while the Forum at Downtown Design will host keynotes from global design heavyweights including Lee Broom, Tom Dixon, and Isabelle Stanislas.
