Fez – The Musée des Confluences Dar El Bacha in Marrakech is set to unveil a major retrospective titled “Sous le signe du Noun,” celebrating the work of Moroccan painter Mohamed Azouzi. The exhibition will run from October 28, 2025, to February 8, 2026.
Mohamed Azouzi was a Moroccan-born, France-based painter and plastician (1946–2022). A Casablanca native with roots in Tafilalet, he trained at the Casablanca School of Fine Arts and later in Paris (ENSAD / École des Beaux-Arts) where he developed a lyrical, abstract style steeped in memory and symbolism.
His work was shown widely in Morocco and abroad; in 2022, the Hassan II Foundation’s Espace Rivages in Rabat hosted the posthumous show “L’Essence de la vie.”
He continued to feature in Moroccan group shows, including “Des Traces sur le sable des rivages” in Rabat in 2024.
Azouzi’s paintings are known for exploring the “invisible memory” of the world, offering viewers abstract interpretations rather than realistic representations. His work invites reflection on Morocco’s collective past through layered textures and symbolic forms.
The exhibition’s opening ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28 at 4:40 p.m. at the museum in the heart of Marrakech’s medina. Organizers are calling on members of the media and cultural community to attend and help amplify Azouzi’s contribution to Moroccan modern art.
The Musée des Confluences Dar El Bacha has become a leading cultural venue in Morocco, known for hosting high-caliber exhibitions that highlight the country’s artistic heritage and contemporary voices.
