Marrakech – Morocco has secured the 13th position worldwide in the latest United Nations Tourism rankings, establishing itself as one of the globe’s most-visited destinations.
This milestone marks a significant achievement for North Africa, highlighting the continent’s growing influence in the global travel economy.
Between January and October 2025, the Kingdom welcomed 16.6 million visitors, representing a 14% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
The surge underscores Morocco’s post-pandemic recovery and its success in positioning itself as a diverse, sustainable, and high-value travel destination.
Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor, presenting the report in Casablanca, emphasized that Morocco is “establishing itself as a comprehensive, competitive, and sustainable destination,” driven by the ongoing implementation of its 2023–2026 national tourism roadmap.
The plan seeks to double tourism revenue and attract 26 million visitors by 2030, aligning with Morocco’s broader economic diversification agenda.
Since 2023, the country has added 43,000 new hotel beds, supported by both domestic and international private investment.
This growth reflects rising investor confidence, fueled by modern infrastructure, rich cultural heritage, and government incentives.
In a move to attract the premium travel segment, Morocco has signed a strategic partnership between Alliances Group and Rixos Hotels to introduce the “Luxury All-Inclusive” concept.
The venture, valued at 1.5 billion dirhams (approximately $137 million), will see the development of three luxury resorts in Marrakech and Larache, generating thousands of jobs.
These initiatives complement Morocco’s long-term strategy to enhance its appeal in family and luxury tourism, particularly ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which the Kingdom will co-host with Spain and Portugal.
