Marrakech – One of Morocco’s most influential rap voices, Pause Flow, born Jawad Asradi, was arrested on Tuesday and remains in custody as his trial approaches.

The Court of First Instance in Sefrou has denied his request for provisional release.

Pause Flow, whose tracks garner millions of streams across digital platforms, was initially placed under provisional detention and transferred to Sefrou’s local prison.

Pause Flow faces charges of “insulting an organized body and public officials in the exercise of their duties.”

The court has scheduled the next hearing for Thursday, November 27, 2025, giving the defense time to prepare.

The case reportedly revolves around lyrics in Pause Flow’s songs, which the public prosecutor claims damage the reputation of public institutions.

Some tracks also reference the GenZ212 movement, whose demonstrations recently swept through several Moroccan cities.

Pause Flow’s legal team emphasizes the presumption of innocence, highlighting that their client complied with police summons and expressed willingness to pay bail.

Lawyers also stress his health concerns, noting that he requires ongoing medical treatment.
