Fez — Princess Lalla Meryem inaugurated the “Bazar Solidaire” on Saturday at the Bibliothèque Nationale du Royaume du Maroc (The National Library), launching a new edition of the Diplomatic Circle’s flagship charity event.

The annual charity market raises funds for Moroccan NGOs supporting education, health, and women’s empowerment.

On arrival, Her Royal Highness reviewed a section of the Forces Auxiliaires before greeting senior officials and members of the diplomatic corps.

The reception line included Youth, Culture and Communication Minister Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid; Solidarity, Social Inclusion and Family Minister Naima Ben Yahia; Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Wali and Rabat Governor Mohamed Yacoubi; Regional Council President Rachid El Abdi; City Council President Fatiha Almoudni; Prefectural Council President Abdelaziz Driouich; and National Library Director Samira Malizi.

Ambassadors and representatives also welcomed the Princess, among them Romania’s Maria Ciobanu, Kazakhstan’s Saulekul Sailaukyzy, Sudan’s Mawadda Omer Hageltoum El Badawi, Canada’s Isabelle Valois, Vietnam’s Le Kim Quy, Tunisia’s chargé d’affaires Raja Youssefi, and Unielle Oupolo, spouse of the Gabonese Ambassador and President of the Diplomatic Circle, alongside the Circle’s Secretary-General Yolanda Jah.

After cutting the ribbon, Princess Lalla Meryem toured the stands, which showcased a wide range of artisanal and terroir products from across Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

The bazaar offers visitors a chance to discover crafts, textiles, and artworks while contributing to social causes through purchases and donations. A photo with members of the Diplomatic Circle closed the inaugural tour.

Organized annually by the Diplomatic Circle in Morocco, the “Bazar Solidaire” celebrates friendship and solidarity while directing proceeds to Moroccan non-profits serving the most vulnerable.

The Circle’s members are made up of spouses of heads of diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations accredited in the Kingdom. More than 40 countries and international entities are participating in the 2025 edition, reflecting the event’s broad reach and the diversity of cultural traditions on display.

The funds raised will support associations working in Morocco’s key social sectors through  schooling and literacy initiatives, health programs, and projects that improve the status of women in rural communities. Organizers promote the bazaar as not only a fundraising platform but also a meeting point for intercultural exchange, promoting values of fraternity, generosity, and mutual respect.

This year’s edition renews a longstanding tradition that strengthens ties between Morocco and the diplomatic community. By aligning cultural discovery with charitable action, the “Bazar Solidaire” underscores how international cooperation can translate into tangible support for local development.
