Fez — Megarama Maroc has opened its first IMAX room in Rabat, inside Arribat Center, bringing premium large-format projection to the capital.
The new theater, which launched on December 17 is equipped with IMAX with Laser technology and seats 150 viewers.
A first IMAX experience for the capital
With this new room, Megarama Rabat shifts part of its programming into large-scale spectacle. The IMAX with Laser setup is presented as one of the most advanced projection systems on the market, with a focus on image clarity, deeper contrast, and more intense colors.
The curved screen typical of IMAX rooms is designed to fill the viewer’s field of vision and create a stronger sense of proximity to the action. A multichannel sound system wraps the audience in audio from every side. Together, these elements aim to turn a regular screening into a more complete sensory experience that stays close to what directors intend on large-format releases.
Opening with the new Avatar chapter
The launch of the IMAX room coincides with the national release of “Avatar: De Feu et de Cendres”, the third film in James Cameron’s saga. The choice is not accidental. The franchise is known for its visual effects and immersive world-building, and the new chapter is built to be seen on large-format screens.
For Rabat audiences, that means discovering Pandora in conditions tailored to the film’s scale, with a projection system that can carry the level of detail and depth the production was designed for.
Megarama’s wider network and strategy
According to Megarama Maroc, the Rabat IMAX room fits into a broader strategy to widen access to premium cinema experiences in Morocco, especially in major urban centers. The group is already present in Casablanca, Marrakech, Fez, and Tangier, and has been steadily expanding its network of multiplexes.
By placing an IMAX room at the heart of Arribat Center, Megarama is betting that large-format screenings can become a regular part of city life in the capital, not just a rare event. For viewers, it adds another option to Rabat’s cinema offer at a time when both operators and audiences are looking for reasons to choose the big screen over home viewing.
