Rabat – Global pop figure Madonna recently made a low-profile stop in Morocco’s city of Fez, a visit that further contributes to the city’s growing presence on the international cultural map.
Sources told Morocco World News (MWN) that upon her arrival at Fez-Saïss Airport, the American singer received a VIP welcome, with special arrangements put in place to facilitate the landing of her private jet.
Local authorities were closely mobilized to ensure the smooth conduct of the visit, which took place under strict conditions of confidentiality and security.
The same source indicates that the program included a visit to the Nejjarine Museum, one of the city’s most renowned monuments, as well as time spent exploring the UNESCO-listed medina.
Ahmed Sentissi, President of the Regional Tourism Council (CRT) of Fez-Meknes, confirmed to MWN that Madonna made a private visit to the city, noting that the trip was smooth and without incident.
Madonna, according to l’Economiste, also toured the historic Al Attarine Madrasa, a landmark of Marinid architecture and a symbol of Fez’ long-standing spiritual and intellectual influence.
One of the most notable moments of the visit took place at Palais Mnebhi, where the artist experienced an evening marked by spiritual dances and Sufi music performed by the troupe of Noureddine Tahri.
She was accompanied by members of her entourage in a moment that reflected the spirit of coexistence and cultural openness often associated with the city of Fes.
The day concluded with a private dinner at Riad Fes – Relais & Châteaux, a leading luxury establishment in the heart of the medina.
Madonna’s presence reportedly sparked excitement among guests, many of whom welcomed the chance to encounter a figure of her stature in the historic city.
According to the same sources, the star’s management expressed their appreciation to local authorities, hospitality professionals, and security services for the quality of the reception and the professionalism surrounding the visit.
The stay was also made possible through the involvement of regional tourism officials, including members of the Fez-Meknes Regional Tourism Council, who coordinated various aspects of the itinerary.
Madonna departed Fez at night aboard her private jet, heading to Marrakech.
Fez stands as one of Morocco’s most enduring cultural capitals, long regarded as a crossroads of learning, spirituality, and craftsmanship.
Home to one of the world’s oldest universities and a medina recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the city has for centuries drawn scholars, artists, and travelers in search of knowledge and meaning.
Its madrasas, fondouks, and monuments bear witness to a layered history shaped by Andalusian, Amazigh, Arab, and Jewish influences, giving Fez a singular place in the cultural memory of the region.
