Marrakech – Rabat hosted on January 10 the Constitutive General Assembly of the Association of the International Film Festival “Film Espoir,” marking a new milestone in Morocco’s cultural and cinematic landscape.

Founded by university academics, filmmakers, directors and cultural stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, the initiative aims to reinforce Morocco’s cultural diplomacy through cinema while establishing an international, pan-African platform dedicated to the seventh art.

The association seeks to position the festival as a bridge for artistic exchange among African creators, a catalyst for supporting emerging talent, and a strategic contributor to the development of Morocco’s and Africa’s film industries.

Central to its vision is professional training, with plans to nurture a new generation of filmmakers through specialized workshops in screenwriting, directing, cinematography and editing.

It also places strong emphasis on dialogue and critical reflection, organizing debates, meetings and roundtables that bring together filmmakers, critics and audiences, particularly young people and children, to foster media literacy and visual culture.

As the official Moroccan platform of the Côte d’Ivoire-based International Film Festival “Film Espoir,” the association joins a growing international network spanning cities including Paris, Liège, Dakar, Abidjan and Yaoundé.

By leveraging this wide geographic presence, the Moroccan branch aims to encourage knowledge exchange and open new international horizons for Moroccan and African filmmakers, while affirming a shared cinematic identity rooted in diversity, creativity and continental connection.
