Marrakech – The Egyptian-Moroccan Cultural Forum opened on Wednesday in Alexandria for three days of discussion aimed at strengthening cultural diplomacy between Rabat and Cairo, positioning culture as a strategic lever for dialogue and cooperation between the two countries.
Organized by the Mediterranean Youth Forum in Morocco in partnership with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the forum is held under the theme “Cultural Action Between Official Institutions and Civil Society: Bridges Between the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and Assilah.”
The event seeks to deepen cultural relations between Morocco and Egypt while reinforcing the role of youth and civil society in building sustainable channels of communication between people.
The forum is taking place with the support of the Embassy of Morocco in Cairo and the Assilah Forum Foundation.
It is part of the broader “Egyptian-Moroccan Cultural Path for Dialogue and Memory,” a week-long program running from January 24 to 31 in Cairo and Alexandria.
This initiative includes visits to cultural institutions and historical sites, meetings between young people and civil society actors, and open spaces for intellectual and cultural dialogue.
The two countries have a vibrant history of mutual cultural exchange.
In July 2024, the Cairo Opera House’s Talents Developments Center participated in the 16th International Festival of Children of Peace in Morocco, performing and showcasing Egyptian folk art as a message of peace and cultural exchange.
A few months later, the Afak Masrahiyya (Theatrical Horizons) festival in Cairo featured Morocco as Guest of Honor during the November edition.
