Rabat – Mohammed V Theatre opened “Beyond Forms” yesterday inRabat, a new exhibition by abstract artist Ouafa Riad.

Organized with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Culture, the exhibition will run through February 15, offering a unique visual journey, blending abstraction and surrealism, and exploring emotional tension and inner anxiety.

This exhibition brings together 27 works, revolving around the theme of exploring the human emotions and observing the contrast between beauty and suffering in the real experience.

According to the organizers, the recurring “faceless” figures in these works reflect the artist’s desire to move beyond appearances and focus on inner worlds and feelings invisible to the eyes.

Ouafa Riad is a self-taught Moroccan painter born in 1965 in Rabat. She has been active for over 13 years, participating in various exhibitions in cities such as Rabat and Marrakech in Morocco, as well as internationally in France and Russia.

“I paint to make the invisible visible,” Riad stated on her website.

Through her visual language, she seeks to build a bridge between the real world and the spiritual field.

Her work draws inspiration from Moroccan culture and her personal search for meaning, with a strong focus on deep memory, both collective and individual.

The artist believes intuition should guide her brushes, allowing expression to emerge freely on the canvas without technical constraints. She also emphasized the awareness of emotions and self-meditation in her works.

Riad invites visitors to approach her paintings as “visual puzzles”, encouraging people to interpret and understand them according to their own psychological state and personal perspective.
