Rabat – In the past 48 hours, Moroccan rapper Inkonnu has posted two cryptic teasers for his highly anticipated album “Split.”
The first shows the artist working meticulously on what looks like a spaceship, face unseen, ending with the mysterious number 26.
The second teaser shifts to the streets, where passersby look startled, their expressions mirroring the roar of a jet engine in the background, concluding with the number 03.
Taken together, the clues are clear: “Split” is arriving on March 26. But there’s more than just a date at stake.
This album marks Inkonnu’s first major release since signing with Sony Music late last year, a move widely seen as a game-changer in his career.
The journey back to the spotlight began in November with “Jenkidama,” the first taste of the album.
Its title nods to the iconic anime Dragon Ball, referring to the energy-charged strike that unleashes a decisive explosion, a metaphor for the impact Inkonnu intends to make.
The track also channels the energy of fighting games like Tekken, positioning him squarely in the arena of modern pop culture.
The track’s success was undeniable. “Jenkidama” landed Inkonnu on several Billboard charts for the first time, including the Arab 100 Artists and the Arab Hot 100, and placed high on both the “Top 50 Maghreb” and “Top 50 Hip-Hop” lists.
