Rabat – Dakhla recently became the stage for fresh ideas and technology talent, and there were three standout digital projects that were celebrated at the “Ramadan AI” hackathon, including AI technologies applied in fields ranging from education to agriculture.

This event brought together young people, project leaders, and technology enthusiasts. The objective is to showcase Moroccan talent and provide concrete solutions to the specific challenges of each region through the collaborative development of innovative solutions tailored to local realities.

At the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region level, the first prize, Regional Excellence Award, went to the “TalibWay”, an AI-powered platform designed to guide students in their educational journey. By inputting their profiles, grades, and career aspirations, students receive personalized recommendations for the courses and institutions best suited to their goals, a tool that could reshape the way for young Moroccans to plan their future careers.

The second prize, Innovation Prize, went to “Bahriya”, a smart platform analyzing fishing data to suggest optimal biological rest periods. The tool supports sustainable practices for fishermen while helping authorities make informed decisions to protect the region’s marine resources.

Rounding out the third prize, Impact Prize, was “Solar”, an intelligent solution that maximizes solar panel efficiency in Dakhla. By detecting sand accumulation and hidden malfunctions, it ensures clean, uninterrupted energy production for the solar installations, which is a vital innovation to optimize the production of solar installations for a sun-soaked city like Dakhla.

The representative of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform emphasised that the event results confirm that Moroccan human capital is capable of creativity and innovation when given the opportunity. She reiterated that hosting the event in Dakhla is part of a national initiative “AI Made in Morocco”, aimed at strengthening territorial equity in its digital dimension and enabling each region to showcase its unique strengths.

The “Ramadan AI” hackathon has been connecting innovators across all 12 regions of the country throughout Ramadan. This time was the first stage of the event, held from February 20-22 in the south, including the regions of Guelmim-Oued Noun, Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab.

In the future stages, the “Ramadan AI” hackathon continues with more regions.
