Casablanca – Waking up for suhoor is one of the hardest parts of Ramadan. Eyes half-open, body still asleep, you wish your meal would prepare itself. Well, overnight oats turn your sleepy wishes into a ready-made suhoor.

They are the perfect meal for Suhoor. Made by soaking oats in liquid instead of cooking them, overnight oats are ready straight from the fridge. No reheating, no effort – just open, eat, pray, and go back to sleep.

In addition to how easy they are to prepare, oats are also a smart nutritional choice for suhoor. They help you stay energized throughout the day because they provide slow-releasing carbohydrates that keep you full for longer and prevent sudden energy crashes during fasting hours.

How to make overnight oats

Ingredients

½ cup rolled oats

½ cup milk (or plant-based milk)

Greek yogurt (optional but adds protein and creaminess)

1 teaspoon honey or dates syrup (optional)

Banana, strawberry (or any fruit you like)

Granola (optional, for extra crunch)

Instructions

In a jar or bowl, combine the oats and milk.

Add yogurt.

Stir well, cover, and refrigerate overnight (at least 6 hours).

When you wake up, add fruit and granola, then drizzle with honey or date syrup.

And abracadabra – your Suhoor is ready.

Quick tip: Don’t add granola at night if you want it crunchy, and add fruit in the morning to keep it fresh.
