Fez — Morocco’s Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, through its Culture Department, has opened applications for financial support for cultural and artistic projects in the theater sector as part of the first session of 2026. The announcement was made on March 19, with submissions set to open on March 20.
According to the ministry announcement, the support program covers multiple categories. These include the production and promotion of theatrical works, theater troupe residencies, artistic residencies dedicated to writing and scientific research in theater. The program also provides training workshops, organizes theater festivals and events in Morocco, as well as promotes participation in theater festivals and events abroad.
Applications must be submitted exclusively online through the ministry’s dedicated platform, where project holders can also download the specifications, the sworn declaration form, and the user guide for the digital portal.
The platform is part of the ministry’s wider effort to improve access to services and streamline administrative procedures.
A wider push for theater support
The call remains open from today until April 15 at 4:30 pm, giving theater companies, organizers, and cultural operators just under a month to submit their files.
The structure of the program suggests that the ministry is not limiting support to stage production alone.
By including writing residencies, research, training, local festivals, and international participation, the call points to a broader view of theater as both a creative practice and a cultural ecosystem.
That matters in a sector where development often depends as much on mobility, documentation, and training as on performance itself.
