Fez — Sony Pictures’ “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has set a new industry benchmark after its first trailer reached 718.6 million views in 24 hours, according to Variety. The figure makes it the biggest movie trailer launch in history.

The trailer surpassed the previous record held by “Deadpool & Wolverine,” which drew 365 million views in its first 24 hours. Variety reported that “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” had already hit 373 million views within eight hours, meaning it broke the standing record well before the first full day had ended.

That performance also pushed past another Spider-Man milestone. “Spider-Man: No Way Home” had recorded 355.5 million views in its first 24 hours in 2021 before losing the top spot to “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Now, “Brand New Day” has reclaimed the record for the franchise on an even larger scale.

A massive start for Sony’s next Spider-Man film

The numbers point to strong anticipation around the film and the continued global draw of Spider-Man as a theatrical franchise. With the trailer drawing extraordinary attention in its opening hours, Sony has already secured one of the year’s biggest promotional launches before the film’s release.

Entertainment Weekly reported that the trailer offers a first look at Tom Holland’s return as Peter Parker and hints at the next phase of the character’s story following “No Way Home.” The rollout has helped place “Brand New Day” at the center of film conversation this week, with the trailer’s performance quickly becoming part of the story itself.
