According to a statement from the commune, the program will showcase a rich selection of Morocco’s oral and performance traditions.
Storytellers, known as “hlayqiya,” will take center stage alongside theater performances, acrobatics, and circus acts, collectively transforming the historic square into a lively space of artistic expression.
These activities will run on a weekly basis – on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. This regular programming aims to position Bab Bou Jeloud as a consistent gathering point where culture, entertainment, and public life naturally converge.

To support this vision, organizers are encouraging Fez residents to take part in large numbers, helping create a warm and dynamic atmosphere that enhances the experience for both locals and visitors.
Organizers further said they are counting on strong local attendance to create an authentic, energetic atmosphere that would turn the cultural event into a genuine experience for every visitor who passes through.
The choice of this historic site is particularly significant, as Bab Bou Jeloud stands among Fez’s most recognizable landmarks, attracting both locals and visitors alike. Hosting such events in this setting will further highlight its cultural value while enhancing the overall visitor experience.
Programs like this play a key role in reviving Morocco’s rich cultural heritage. Beyond Fez, expanding such events to other cities would make culture more visible, accessible, and embedded in everyday life.
