Lugano – Oujda has been named “the 468th International City of Peace”, by the International Cities of Peace organisation, marking a significant milestone in its efforts to promote inclusion, civic engagement, and sustainable peace.
The recognition highlights the city’s transformation into a hub for community initiatives and its growing role within a global network of cities committed to fostering harmony and cooperation.
Commenting on Oujda’s recognition, Zakaria El Hamel president and founder of Youth for Peace and Dialogue Between Cultures, expressed appreciation for the organization’s continued support in promoting peace globally, stating that the city is “honored to be part of this global network working toward a more peaceful future.”
Building a culture of peace from within
Behind Oujda’s recognition lies years of collective effort to foster dialogue, inclusion, and social cohesion at the local level.
