Rabat – The High Atlas Ultra Trail (HAUT) 2026 will run from April 8-19, offering a unique blend of endurance sport, cultural immersion, and sustainable impact in the heart of Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains.
Set within the Toubkal National Park, the race connects a series of remote villages across challenging mountain terrain, giving participants the opportunity to experience both the physical demands of trail running and the richness of Amazigh heritage.
Organized by the Association Espoir pour le Sport et Développement Durable, HAUT was born from a 280-kilometer trek across the Atlas.
That experience revealed both the beauty of the region and the untapped potential of local youth, leading to the creation of an initiative focused on social action, sports education, and community empowerment.
More than a competition, HAUT 2026 is positioned as an eco-responsible and solidarity-driven event.
As part of the Green Commitment of the International Trail Running Association (ITRA), the race integrates environmentally conscious practices, including waste reduction, recycling efforts, and awareness campaigns aimed at preserving the natural landscape.
The event also plays a key role in supporting local communities. By prioritizing local suppliers, promoting regional products, and creating employment opportunities, HAUT® contributes directly to the local economy.
Additional initiatives include distributing sports equipment to young people, supporting athletes from disadvantaged backgrounds, and strengthening partnerships with local associations.
Inclusivity remains central to the event’s vision. HAUT offers multiple race categories suitable for all levels, from beginners to experienced runners, as well as adapted courses for participants with disabilities.
Children from the region are invited to participate free of charge, while ongoing efforts aim to increase female participation and ensure accessibility across all social backgrounds.
By combining sport, sustainability, and social engagement, the High Atlas Ultra Trail 2026 stands out as a landmark event, one that reflects Morocco’s growing commitment to responsible tourism and inclusive development.
