Rabat – Marrakech Menara Airport shines on the continent as the 3rd in Africa for overall passenger experience, service quality, and infrastructure, according to the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2026.
Skytrax, the UK‑based consultancy that produces the world’s most influential air travel quality survey, releases this annual award based on feedback from millions of travellers across more than 575 global airports.
In the Africa‑wide ranking, Cape Town International Airport in South Africa secured the top position, followed by Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport in second place.
Marrakech Menara Airport earned third place, solidifying its status among the continent’s most highly regarded air transport hubs.
Alongside this continental ranking, Menara was also recognized as the Best Regional Airport in Africa at the World Airport Awards 2026, marking an important milestone after moving up from fourth place the previous year.
The award underscores improvements in service quality, passenger experience, facilities, and airport operations, enhancements driven by ongoing investments and modernization.
The awards reflect passenger evaluations of key travel experience areas, including check‑in, security, cleanliness, staff service, lounges, and retail amenities, making the ranking a respected benchmark in global aviation.
Morocco’s airport network continues to rise in prominence, with Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport also featuring near the top of Africa’s best airport lists in recent years, showcasing the kingdom’s growing role as a major travel and tourism hub.
